NanoSight Limited

Seeing is Believing.

NanoSight delivers the world's most versatile and proven multi-parameter nanoparticle analysis in a single instrument.

NanoSight visualizes, measures and characterizes virtually all nanomaterial. Particle size, concentration, zeta potential and aggregation can all be analyzed while a fluorescence mode provides speciation of labeled particles. NanoSight provides real time monitoring of the subtle changes in the characteristics of particle populations with all of these analyses uniquely confirmed by visual validation.

NanoSight's "Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis" (NTA) detects and visualises populations of nanoparticles in liquids down to 10nm, dependent on material, and measures the size of each particle from direct observations of diffusion. This particle-by-particle methodology goes beyond traditional light scattering and other ensemble techniques in providing high-resolution particle size distributions. Additionally, NanoSight measures concentration and validates all data with video files of the particles moving under Brownian motion.

NTA overcomes many obstacles in particle characterisation. Aggregates are easily detected and sized without interfering/shielding primary particle populations making this the ideal tool for analysing aggregation. Sample preparation is quick only requiring dilution to a suitable concentration. Additionally, sample analysis is completed within 1-2 minutes providing a clear particle size distribution.

The versatility of NTA is unrivalled in the field of nanomaterial characterisation. The particle-by-particle approach means NTA is suited to both mono and polydisperse systems providing clear size distributions that are a true representation of the sample. In addition to concentration the refractive index of nanomaterial allows NTA to distinguish between two populations not just through size, but also material. Through the addition of fluorescence and zeta potential abilities, NTA is now widely used in a broad range of applications and a leader in the field of nanomaterial characterisation. NTA is also in the unique position of being able to address the recently released EC Definition of Nanomaterials (click here for more information).

Applications of NTA

  • Protein Aggregation
  • Liposomes and other drug delivery vehicles
  • Virus samples
  • Exosomes and microvesicles
  • Magnetic Nanoparticles
  • Cosmetics
  • Foodstuffs
  • Quantum dots
  • Inkjet inks and pigment particles
  • Ceramics
  • Most polymers and colloids

NanoSight demonstrates worldwide success through rapid adoption of NTA, having installed almost 500 systems worldwide with users including BASF, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Proctor and Gamble, Roche and Unilever together with the most eminent universities and research institutes. In addition to this user base more than 350 third party papers citing NanoSight results consolidate NanoSight's leadership position in nanoparticle characterisation.
