Symposia - scientific sessions

Symposia scientific sessions can be proposed for any topic of interest to NanoImpactNet and./or QNano. They are proposed and chaired by community members. Symposia can consist of presentations and interactive components.

Symposia give researchers a chance to present issues that are not addressed by this year's focus topics during the Integrating conference. Symposium proposers are encouraged to propose topic and speakers by submitting abstracts of the presentations and short CVs of the presenters.

The scientific committee will choose among the proposed topics. The main symposium proposer will receive free entry to the conference. Additional symposium organizers and all speakers at the symposium need to register and pay the conference fee. For each symposium, a NanoImpactNet / QNano-consortium member will be identified who will help organize and run the symposium and will make a one-page report about the symposium outcome for inclusion in the report on the conference (they will be called "session facilitator").

Symposia - discussion groups

Symposia discussion groups are sessions for discussing issues related to NanoImpactNet and/or QNano. They are proposed and chaired by community members. Discussion groups can start with a presentation but the majority of the time must be dedicated to discussion.

Discussion group organizers are requested to produce an output that can be published, e.g. for NanoImpactNet or QNano statements (research strategies, needs or gaps, but also joint research protocols etc. can be discussed and agreed on).

The scientific committee will choose discussion groups from among the proposed topics. The main discussion group proposer will receive free entry to the conference. Additional organizers need to register and pay the conference fee. For each discussion-group, a NanoImpactNet / QNano consortium member will be identified who will help organize and run the discussion-group.

Participants will register for a discussion group during the first three days of the conference.

FP-Project / Networking / Brokerage events

Rooms can be made available on the last two conference days (in parallel to the training schools) for FP-consortia, networking and brokerage activities related to European research, notably the NanoSafety Cluster.

Preference will be given to meetings of NanoSafety Cluster-projects (events can be limited to consortium members) and to brokerage events that either address an upcoming European call or that seek to link European researchers to international partners.

The selection of networking and brokerage events will be done by the conference organizers in collaboration with the relevant EC project officers.
