Nano for Plastics

![]() | Nano Enhancers for Plastics Conference 2012: 20-21 March 2012 - Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Brussels, Belgium Nanocomposites continue to be a highly active area for researchers in industry and acadmemic institutions, but commercialisation is now a well established route out of the lab and into the marketplace. Nano Enhancers for Plastics 2012 has speakers from a number of key companies that have developed or are using nano products that enhance the performance of plastic materials. Following the success of last the 11 conferences, the 12th Nano Enhancers for Plastics Conference that will explore latest developments in these fast-growing sectors. Dr Jani Kivioja, Research Leader from Nokia and Dr Bojan O Boskovic, Director of Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology will head up a morning of talks surrounding the use of graphine. ![]() Day 2 at 09:40 - Graphene: prospects for future mobile devices with Dr Jani Kivioja, Research Leader from Nokia Graphene holds an enormous opportunity for numerous industrial sectors. Graphene has various extraordinary electrical, optical, thermal and mechanical properties which can be exploited in a multitude of applications. However, the next step from the raw potential towards the completed consumer product needs larger coordinated actions. Graphene is a truly disruptive enabling technology and therefore current manufacturing paradigms do not hold anymore; graphene will revolutionise component manufacturing, device architecture design and system integration as well as supply chain structures. ![]() Day 2 at 10.10 - Enhancing plastic using carbon nanomaterials with Dr Bojan O Boskovic, Director of Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology One of the main markets for carbon nanotubes has been their use as enhancers in plastic materials to improve electrical, mechanical and thermal properties and to add functionality and provide sensing ability. The carbon nanotube commercialisation route from the pioneering research results and the first patents, through the first applications to scaleup, will be presented with a special focus on application in enhancing plastic materials. The history of the carbon nanotube manufacturing scale-up together with the key manufactures and their position on the market will also be discussed. Similarities and differences between carbon nanotube and graphene production processes and application in enhancing plastic materials will be on the agenda. The aim is to make possible predictions about graphene manufacturing scaleup and applications in the future. Nano Enhancers for Plastics 2012 has speakers from a number of key companies that have developed or are using nano products that enhance the performance of plastic materials. Venue: The Conference will be held at the Radisson Blu Rotal Hotel in Brussels, Belgium on 20-21 March 2012. Follow this link to visit the event homepage |
