The North East of England Process Industry Cluster Limited (NEPIC) is a cluster organisation representing the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Speciality, Petrochemical & Commodity Chemical companies based in the North East of England.

With over 300 member companies from these sectors and the supply chain the combined economic power of NEPIC companies and their importance to the North East of England and the UK cannot be over emphasised.

NEPIC provides a platform for member companies to collaborate on common issues and aims develop the long term future and improve competitiveness of these sectors and the region.

Led by Industry
Member companies find benefit from leadership and co-ordination of activities of mutual benefit. The secret to NEPIC’s success is that top industrialists from all sub sectors in the region form the NEPIC Leadership Team. The key activity of this team is to provide leadership to the Cluster and to ensure that the NEPIC Growth Strategy will reach its targets.

Strategic Thrust Teams
NEPIC’s programmes involve senior people from industry and the research base, focusing on several strategic themes of crucial importance to the sector.  The Chairs of the NEPIC Thrust Teams are members of the Leadership Team to ensure the activity of each team is aligned to the Cluster strategic priorities and are supportive of each other.

Manufacturing & Productivity
The aim of this team is to support members improving productivity and manufacturing/supply chain performance to the tune of £400m pa over the next 5 years. It has worked to ensure members access available funding from NEPA and other regional and national programmes such as PICME.

Innovation

International Trade
This team focuses on the development of international trade opportunities for NEPIC members. This can include arranging or supporting both inward and outward missions, and collaborating on the attendance on international exhibitions.

GDP Growth
This team is charged with identifying how the Process Industry can help the region overcome a serious economic performance gap (£9billion short of GDP compared to the average UK region)

Marketing & Communications
This team is responsible for determining the marketing approach and developing the promotional campaigns and materials for the North East Process Industry, including helping to change the public’s perception of the industry.

Skills & Education
The NEPIC Skills & Education Team aims to define the number, type and level of resources to support the growth plans within the North East Process Industry and to attract new entrants.
